Abstract
Positive experience has been acquired in Russia in operating power-generating gas-turbine units (GTUs) of different capacity and for various purposes. Aircraft engine manufacturing organizations have developed a great many GTUs of 1.5 to 30 MW for application at electric power stations. Tests of the first powergenerating GTU of 110 MW capacity with advanced parameters and indicators have commenced. The construction of the combined-cycle (steam-gas) Northwest cogeneration power station in St. Petersburg is nearing its completion. It is advisable to quickly employ on a wide scale electric power stations with combined-cycle installations, which can be used to greatly cut down expenditures in producing electricity and heat.
