Abstract
We study the properties of the wavefronts induced by temporal Gaussian white noise in a subexcitable medium with experimental observation and numerical simulation. Two characteristic properties were observed in the experiment. First, at an optimal noise level, the wavefronts triggered by noise have the best periodicity, similar to the so-called stochastic resonance phenomenon. Second, the average velocities of wavefront propagations monotonously increase with the noise level. These properties of spatiotemporal dynamics can be qualitatively verified in the numerical simulation.
