Failures of Steam Lines at Thermal Power Stations Due to Corrosion Surroundings

Information is given about special kinds of failures of steam lines at thermal power stations of high and supercritical pressures that are not due to creep of the steel. The results of comprehensive investigations of the damaged metal are presented. They were made by methods of light, scanning electron, and transmissiontype microscopy; Auger spectroscopy; secondary ion mass-spectrometry; X-ray spectral microanalysis; and also by finding the residual content of hydrogen.
