Abstract :
This research intends to study the effect of Children and Teenagers Mental Research Center on the reading skill of fourth grade students of primary school in Ahwaz, Iran. The statistical community of this research includes all the fourth grade students of primary schools in 90-91 academic year. A sample including 40 students is selected by multistage random sampling method. To evaluate the studied variants, the Informal Reading Inventory (IRI) examination tool is used. The correlated t test is used in this research. The results of t test show that there is a significant difference between the reading speed pre-test and post-test (t=3.94 in 0.001 level.); there is no difference between reading comprehension pre-test and post-test (t=0.0001 in 0.05 level); there is no difference between accuracy pre-test and post-test (t=-1 in 0.05 level). According to this, it is likely that the students whose reading speed in reading skill is high, have more time to study and thus would get higher grades in school. Since the aim of reading is to gain self-confidence, understand the mistakes and temporary errors, and also to overcome them.
