Abstract :
Researchers have historically noted the importance of effective teachers and effective teaching. Effective teachers tend to display certain characteristics, while ineffective teachers tend to make the same mistakes repeatedly. It is safe to say that every pupil wishes to have a best teacher from whom a lot of useful information can be received. In order to achieve this, we need to ensure that those who teach incorporate the qualities of effective teaching in their professional lives. In essence, we need every teacher in an educational setting to be an effective teacher. The present article reviews the literature on students’ perception of effective teaching. It also highlights the characteristics of an effective teacher from the viewpoint of students, as reported in previous studies. The article also highlights the measurable and intangible attributes of effective teaching. It concludes by discussing the shortcomings of the literature.
