Abstract :
This study investigated the role repetition modalities on learning English grammar among translation students. The regular and irregular repetitions were compared to discover the effect of each on teaching grammatical patterns. Research sample included 90 male and female Iranian English as a foreign language (EFL) translation students selected non-randomly and they had the first experience in English Language learning. Therefore, the researchers were on the safe ground to assume that the groups were homogeneous. They were divided into three groups (i.e., regular, irregular, and control) and participated in a-12 session treatment classes to be taught a series of grammatical patterns. The researcher gave a grammar achievement post-test after the treatment. The collected data were analyzed by using One-way ANOVA and a Post-hoc Scheffe test to show the differences between three groups. The results showed that irregular repetitions gave significant advantage for learning grammar than regular or no-repetition.
