Abstract
Summary
computerized system called THINKable has been applied for the treatment of 12 senile patients, who had previously been tested and retested at the end of a training period lasting almost 2 months. The same patients underwent a similar procedure again after an interval of 9 months. A single group comparison was made before and after treatment on two separate occasions. An improving trend was found in the neuropsychological performances, even in those abilities which had not been directly trained; this fact indicates a generalization of the situation-specific gains achieved through the use of the computerized program. The present results confirm some previous conclusions about the value of cognitive rehabilitation, which is not giving spectacular results, but can result in a better adaptation to the daily life in cases of mild to moderate cognitive impairments.
