Abstract :
Summary al ischemia is considered an important cause of dementia. It has been studied in a group of 18 patients with cerebrovascular insufficiency, whether the degree of cognitive impairment correlates with the severity of cerebral ischemic changes. The cognitive impairment was assessed by using the mini mental state examination (MMSE). The cerebral structural alterations were revealed by contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT). The results show that the severity of cognitive impairments correlates with the degree of dilatation of the supratentorial ventricular system in elderly patients with multiinfarct dementia.
