Abstract :
Thermoelectric properties of the solid solutions BaPb1−xSbxO3 with x=0.00–0.40 were investigated in the temperature range 373–1073 K. The materials with x=0.00–0.15 showed semi-metallic behavior. The doping with Sb atoms brought about the increase in the Fermi level. For the materials with x=0.25 and 0.40, the valence band was fully occupied and the conduction band was partially occupied, but the electrical conductivity data suggest that the carriers behave like large-polarons due to the distortion of the PbO6 octahedra. The thermoelectric power factors were estimated to be 1–2×10−5 W m−1 K−2 for x=0.00–0.15.
