Abstract :
Sixteen-filament stainless steel/Fe/MgB2 wires were fabricated by the powder-in-tube method followed by groove rolling and a short 8 min/950 °C heat treatment. The wires were characterized using SEM, and vibrating sample magnetometery. Magnetic critical current densities of 3.4×105 A/cm2 at 0.5 T and about 1.9×105 A/cm2 at 1 T at 5 K were achieved.
