Excitonic luminescence in oligothiophene aggregated films and self-assembled monolayers

We studied the photoluminescence (PL) spectra of thiophene oligomers in a solution, and in a solid state: aggregated film and self-assembled monolayer (SAM). We showed a strong influence of packing conditions on the PL spectra. In the solid state a new electronic state was observed, which does not reveal itself in the solution.
