Abstract
A theory of electroosmosis in an array of parallel soft cylinders (i.e., polyelectrolyte-coated cylinders) is developed by taking into account hydrodynamic and electric interactions between adjacent cylinders on the basis of Kuwabaraʹs cell model. This theory unites two different electroosmosis theories of hard cylinders and of cylindrical polyelectrolytes. Simple analytic approximate expressions for the electroosmotic velocity are also derived.
