Abstract
The well-known results of the Dukhin–Shilov theory of the thin diffuse double layer polarization in low-frequency alternating fields is generalized in two directions: to include the surface conductivity of the stagnant layer and to describe a wide frequency range including both the low-frequency and the Maxwell–Wagner–OʹKonski dispersions. The generalized expression obtained for the induced dipole moment is confirmed by comparison with numerical results of the DeLacey and White approach. Expressions describing the wide-range spectra of dielectric permittivity and conductivity of suspensions are also obtained. The results are presented in the terms of the ζ-potential and the parameter κa, taking also into account the surface conductivity behind the plane of shear.
