Abstract :
The angular distribution of laser-induced low-energy photoelectron emission from both gold and gold coated with organized organic thin films (OOTF) is investigated using electron imaging and multiple channel detection schemes. Based on these studies, the effect of the electronsʹ k̄ vector on their transmission through various organized organic thin films is investigated. The transmission is found to be by far more efficient along the direction of the organic chains than in any other direction. A channeling effect is observed for electrons ejected into the organic films. These results explain the extremely high sensitivity of the transmission efficiency through organized organic films on their structural order.
