Abstract :
Fluorescence quenching of the second excited (S2) state of zinctetraphenylporphyrin (ZnTPP) with dichloromethane has been studied by steady state as well as time-resolved spectroscopy. Effective intermolecular electron transfer from the S2 state of ZnTPP to dichloromethane was observed. The fluorescence decay of the S2 state of ZnTPP was measured using a fluorescence up-conversion method and the rate constant of the electron transfer in neat dichloromethane was determined to be 1.0 × 10 12 M−1 s−1.
