Abstract :
We report the experimental optical absorption spectrum of Li2H obtained by two-photon ionization spectroscopy and recorded from 18900 to 28000 cm−1. In addition to the B state already measured, a new state, the B′ state, is observed. Comparison with ab initio calculations allows us to determine the symmetry and equilibrium geometry of these two excited states. The character of the bonds between H and Li atoms in the excited states is discussed.
