Abstract :
Photoluminescence (PL) from fullerene (C60 and C70)-doped polyvinylcarbazole (PVK) films prepared by solution casting under laser irradiation (wavelength: 488 nm) has been studied. At the beginning of laser irradiation, fullerene-doped PVK have much stronger and broader PL than pure fullerene-casted film and the other fullerene-doped polymers (PMMA, PS, PMPS and PPSQ) due to the effective energy transfer from PVK to fullerene. By analysis of their solubility, UV–visible absorption spectra and mass spectra before and after laser irradiation, PL intensity of fullerene-doped PVK decreases with laser irradiation time because most fullerene molecules may be bonded with the carbazole groups of PVK by laser-induced photochemical reaction.
