Abstract :
An efficient blue emission of Pr3+ ions was observed in a LaCl3:U3+, Pr3+ crystal after direct excitation of the U3+ ions by a red laser line. Evidence of up-conversion in U3+ ions is shown. The phenomena observed are discussed in terms of cross-relaxation, successive absorption and up-conversion processes.
