Erratum to “Time-resolved molecular changes in a chemically reacting shocked energetic liquid”: [Chem. Phys. Lett. 232 (1995) 341]

Changes in time-resolved Raman spectra of amine sensitized nitromethane shocked to 14 GPa were investigated using an improved measurement system. The new results contradict the previous observation (Chem. Phys. Lett. 232 (1995) 341) regarding the apparent disappearance of the CN symmetric stretching mode (917 cm−1). Consequently, the conclusion about CN bond scission, made on the basis of that observation, is incorrect. The earlier results, though quite reproducible, were experimental artifacts caused by the rapidly growing absorbance and large increase in the background due to fluorescence and chemiluminescence.
