Abstract :
The Born-Oppenheimer energies have been computed for the C 1Πu state of H2 by the variational method in the interval 0.8 ≤ R ≤ 12 a0 and the electronic transition moments for the Werner band determined. The energies are by a few hundredths of a wavenumber lower than ever reported and the computed transition moments confirm earlier results but disagree with the recent computation of Komasa and Thakkar [Chem. Phys. Letters 222 (1994) 65].
