Abstract :
The A 2Πu–X 2Σg+ band system of N2+ has been studied in the near-infrared region using the velocity modulation technique and an Ti sapphire laser. The rotational structure of the (2,0), (3,1), (4,2), (7,4) and (8,5) bands has been analysed using a standard Hamiltonian model. Molecular parameters are reported. The ion rotational and translational temperatures were determined (Trot=400±60 K, Ttrans=911±84 K) and the vibrational temperature was estimated to be Tvib=9400±1400 K.
