Abstract :
Fluorescence imaging and time-resolved fluorescence measurement of dye molecules with a flexible molecular structure were carried out at a single-molecule level on a poly(methyl methacrylate) film. The nonexponential fluorescence decay curves observed in the conventional bulk measurements were attributed to the site-dependent nonradiative process of the individual dye molecules. Owing to the site-sensitive nature of the crystal violet molecules used, a bimodal site distribution of the polymer film was revealed based on the single-molecule measurements.
