Vibrational relaxation of adsorbed molecules by coupling to electron-hole pair excitation

We have investigated a model for coupling of molecular dynamics to inelastic electronic excitations in a metal surface. The calculations find a vibrational relaxation time of a few picoseconds, in good agreement with earlier calculations and experimental predictions.
