Abstract :
The electric field gradient at the nucleus is evaluated for Ga 4p 2P3/2 using finite-element multiconfiguration Hartree–Fock expansions as electronic wavefunctions. The new nuclear quadrupole moments for the gallium isotopes 67Ga, 69Ga, 71Ga and 72Ga are 199(3), 173(3), 109(2) and 536(8) mb, respectively, which are about one order of magnitude more accurate than the current standard values.
