Abstract :
We have generated the benzyl radical in a pulsed discharge jet, and measured vibrationally resolved dispersed fluorescence spectra from single vibronic levels (SVL). The vibrational analysis of four SVL dispersed fluorescence spectra, obtained by the excitation of the 000,0 + 328 cm−1, 0 + 387 cm−1, and 6a01 bands in the excitation spectrum of the D1 1 2A2−D0 1 2B1 transition, is performed. Based on the vibrational analysis of the spectra, we discuss the complex vibronic structure of the excitation spectrum of the radical.
