Abstract :
The ability to form Langmuir films of a perfluoro C60 derivative has been investigated. Continuous and stepwise compression processes have both exhibited the obtention of a thermodynamically stable monomolecular layer at the air-water interface. Mixed with two equivalents of a fluorinated tetrathiafulvalene derivative, the fullerene compound forms high quality Langmuir-Blodgett films, with a well-defined intrinsic repeat distance along the surface normal of the plane.
