Abstract
Glasses of tetrahydrofuran (THF), 1,3-dioxolan (DXL) and dimetylsalfoxid (DMSO) aqueous solutions are made using a liquid-hyperquenching-technique and the Raman spectra of these glasses are measured. It is found that the amount of the hyperquenched glassy pure water (HGW) component in the OH stretching vibration mode of these glasses is larger than that in the mode of the glassy dilute LiCl aqueous solution. This indicates the possibility that the slightly distorted tetrahedral molecular arrangement of water may exist more in the vicinity of the examined non-ionic solute. The result will be consistent with a liquid-polyamorphism in water.
