Abstract :
Measurements on the luminiscence of Cu+ in single crystals of the perovskites KMgF3 are reported. The Cu+ ion is in the site with cubic twelve coordination. KMgF3:Cu+ is shown to be an interesting model system for investigating the optical transitions of the Cu+ ion. In LiBaF3 the Cu+ ion is in the Ba2+ site. Charge compensation and/or an off-centre position disturb the inversion symmetry.
