Abstract :
The 31P CP/MAS NMR spectra from powder samples and the 31P and 59Co solution NMR spectra of [RCo(DH)2PPh3] (R=Me, n-Pr, CH2Ph, CH2Cl, CH2CF3, Ph, i-Pr) are reported. Due to coupling to 59Co (I=7/2), the 31P CP/MAS spectra exhibit, except for R=i-Pr, distorted octets that can give information on the EFG PAS orientation. Coherent 1J(59Co, 31P) values are obtained from the multiplet spacings of the CP/MAS spectra and from 31P and 59Co line-widths in solution. Moreover the 59Co line-width provides information on the magnitude of the quadrupole interaction.
