Abstract :
Rotational and vibrational state distributions of the OH radicals produced in the reaction 16O(1D) + H2 18O → 16OH + 18OH have been determined using a laser-induced fluorescence technique. 16O(1D) was prepared by the 193 nm photodissociation of N2O. The rotational distributions for 16OH and 18OH in the v = 0 level are characterized by the Boltzmann temperatures of 6000 and 2600 K, respectively. A considerable amount of 16OH exists in the v = 1 state while 18OH was produced predominantly in the v = 0 state.
