Abstract :
The density matrix of a spin 32 subject to a first-order quadrupole interaction in solids and excited by an off-resonance rf pulse, is calculated analytically using the algebraic computer program MAPLE. The results are valid for arbitrary values of the rf amplitude, ω1, quadrupolar coupling, ωQ, and offset, Δω, and applied to the analysis of cases where the offset term is not negligible. The treatment can be readily modified to include a second-order quadrupolar interaction during the pulse.
