Abstract :
The dipole moment of NO(B 2Π) was determined for the first time by high resolution laser-induced fluorescence molecular beam spectroscopy. Specific values obtained are as follows: μ(ν′ = 3) = 0.2933 D, μ(ν′ = 4) = 0.2769 D and μ(ν′ = 5) = 0.2617 D. An RKR analysis allowed the first two moments of the dipole moment function to be derived. Quantum beats were observed for the f-parity Λ-doublets and the partial resolution of the hyperfine structure allowed the hyperfine energy level ordering to be determined. Accurate molecular constants were also obtained for B(ν′ = 4 and 5) levels.
