Abstract :
Mobilities of positive charge carriers in polyaniline (PANI) films are determined by electrochemical means as a function of oxidation level of the polymer. Measurements are made in both acid and acetonitrile containing perchlorate anions as a common dopant. Mobilities vary with oxidation level in a fairly complicated manner, but the changes are quite similar irrespective of the difference in solvent. The mobility in the low oxidation regime is as high as 10−3 cm2 V−1 s−1. It decreases once with the increase of oxidation level, starts to rise drastically with a small hump, and exhibits a peak at 36% oxidation level.
