Abstract
The multipolar interaction mediated energy transfer and trapping in a binary solid solution of host and guest has been studied by Monte Carlo simulation. We have simulated 〈R(N)〉; the number of distinct sites visited during N steps and the variance of R(N) for different acceptor concentrations and dimensionality. The dimensionality of energy transfer is found to play an effective role, rather than the acceptor concentration. We observe the values of ds, the spectral dimension, to be nearly 1.8 and 2 for 2-D and 3-D, respectively. The simulated decay law due to trapping shows a non-exponential behavior for 2-D, whereas the 3-D curve is of quasi-exponential to exponential type.
