Optical charge transfer in the ion pairs methyl viologen2+ guanosine-5′-monophosphate2− and adenosine-5′-triphosphate2−

The aqueous ion pairs MV2+GMP2− and MV2+ATP2− with MV2+=methyl viologen2+, GMP2−=guanosine-5′-monophosphate2− and ATP2−=adenosine-5′-triphosphate2− display anion to cation outer-sphere charge transfer (OSCT) absorptions at λmax=406 and 350 nm, respectively, in their electronic spectra.
