Statistical properties of localized vibrational eigenstates

Statistical properties of localized eigenstates of a many-dimensional vibrational hamiltonian are determined. In particular, the probability distribution of the inverse participation ratio is derived, which measures the degree of vibrational mixing. The distribution presented here is relevant to experimental and computational studies exploring vibrational mixing toward the onset of energy relaxation in molecules.
