Abstract :
The jet cooled p-chlorobenzyl radical has been generated with a He carrier gas from p-chlorotoluene in a corona excited supersonic expansion. The vibronic emission spectrum in the transitions of D1(1 2A2)→D0(1 2B2) and D2(2 2B2)→D0(1 2B2) of the p-chlorobenzyl radical has been recorded with a long-path monochromator. The spectrum exhibits well-resolved vibronic structure from which the vibrational frequencies in the ground electronic state have been accurately determined.
