Abstract :
The kinetics and mechanism of the reaction of CHClFO2 radicals with NO were studied by time-resolved mass spectrometric monitoring of the molecular ions of NO2 and NO. The rate constant was determined to be (1.31 ± 0.20) × 10−11 cm3 molecule−1 s−1 at (26 ± 1)°C, and was found to be independent of pressure over the range 6–25 Torr. The CHClFO radicals formed in this reaction were found to dissociate by unimolecular CCl bond scission. The unimolecular rate coefficient for Cl atom loss was estimated to be greater than 3 × 103 s−1 at (26 ± 1)°C.
