Abstract :
Recently derived analytical equations for the relaxation time characteristics for the equilibration of translational energies in binary mixtures of dense gases possessing different masses and temperatures are verified by molecular dynamics simulations. Such comparisons for translational collision numbers describing the average number of collisions of one particle during the relaxation time are also presented. Even for a large ratio of masses fairly good agreement between the theoretical results and those from molecular dynamics simulations is obtained.
