Abstract
NMR transverse relaxation process under intermolecular dipolar interactions of order n was studied quantitatively. An analytical expression was derived using a combined demagnetizing field and the product operation formalism. The theoretical expression predicts that the apparent transverse relaxation time T2,n=T2/|n| for |n|>1 during the evolution period, where T2 is the conventional transverse relaxation time. A modification for the CRAZED pulse sequence which eliminates the influence of radiation damping was proposed for measuring T2,n. All experimental measurements from spectroscopic or imaging measurements at several different magnetic fields are in excellent agreement with the theoretical prediction.
