Abstract :
The jet-cooled pentafluorobenzyl radical has been generated and vibronically excited in a corona-excited supersonic expansion from the gas mixture of pentafluorotoluene and a He buffer gas. The vibronically resolved emission spectrum of the jet-cooled pentafluorobenzyl radical has been recorded with a long-path monochromator in the visible region. The spectrum was analyzed to give accurate vibrational mode frequencies in the ground electronic state by comparison with the pentafluorotoluene spectrum as well as with the aid of an ab initio calculation.
