Raman spectra of lithium sulfate crystal in strong electric fields

Raman spectra of the symmetric stretching ν1(A1) mode of anion SO42− in crystalline Li2SO4 are measured. The effect of strong electric fields is investigated. Correlation functions of the vibrational relaxation and the effective inertia moment of reoriented particles are calculated. On the basis of an analysis of the correlation functions the separation of homogeneous and inhomogeneous contributions into a width of the isotropic component ν1(A1) is performed.
