Abstract :
Based upon the time-relaxed oscillator model [C.J. Ballhausen, Chem. Phys. Lett. 201 (1993) 269; J. Phys. Chem. 98 (1994) 3270], the present work investigates the possibility of generating sqeezed states of molecular vibrations in charge transfer systems. It has been explicitly shown that the evolution operator of the system can be simply expressed as a product of a squeeze operator, a rotation operator and a displacement operator plus a phase factor. Thus, if at t = 0 the system starts with the ground state ¦0)〉 of the initial oscillator Hamiltonian, then it will evolve as a squeezed state at later time t > 0. We believe that these squeezed phonon states could be directly observed by ultrafast laser spectroscopy.
