Abstract :
Using empirical equations of state for carbon dioxide and argon, we show that density fluctuations in supercritical fluids reach a maximum at a particular density Pρmax (T). As the temperature increases beyond the critical temperature, Tc, ρmax (T) deriviates increasingly from the critical density, ρc. This contradicts recent suggestions by Nishikawa et al.
