Abstract :
The absorption spectra of the solvated electron were recorded at different temperatures at 100 atm in ethylene glycol (EG) using nanosecond pulse radiolysis techniques. With increasing temperature, the wavelength maxima of the absorption spectra of the solvated electron are shifted to the red from 570 nm at room temperature to around 850 nm at 598 K. Contrary to the case of the absorption band of the hydrated electron at different temperatures which does not present any change of the shape, in EG at higher temperature, between 473 and 548 K the absorption band is wider in the blue side than at room temperature.
