Abstract
We present a combined theoretical and experimental study of dissociative photoionization of H2 in the photon energy range 36–43 eV. Clear evidence for the existence of Q3 and Q4 doubly excited states (DES) in H2 is provided by analyzing the kinetic energy distribution (KED) of emitted protons. Non-resonant ionization through very excited ionization thresholds is also observed for the first time.
