Abstract :
The characteristics of photovoltaic device compose of p-type conducting polymer and n-type organic semiconductor composite films formed by in situ electrochemical polymerization were studied. A desirable bicontinuous network structure was automatically formed when the electrochemical polymerization of conducting monomer was proceeded within solvent swelled n-type organic semiconductor. Unlike conventional polymer blend technique to obtain bicontinuous network structure where quite narrow range of composition ratio of p- and n-type could be obtained, the composition ratio prepared with in situ electrochemical polymerization method could be easily altered by changing electrochemical polymerization time to provide an optimum composition ratio for the best conversion efficiency. Conducting polymer composite film showed superior photovoltaic efficiency than that of simple overlaid p–n hetero-junction device.
