Abstract :
The corrosive properties of nickel are studied by measuring the weight loss, the voltammetry and the impedance in SDS/C2H5OH/H2O/HCl system and SDS/n-C4H9OH/H2O/HCl system, respectively. The inhibition efficiency of surfactant SDS for nickel increases with the increase of SDS content. The corrosion rate of nickel first increases up to the maximum and then decreases with the increase of alcohol content. The addition of butanol and ethanol can increase the corrosion rate of nickel in HCl(aq) solution, which means the corrosion rate can be adjusted by ethanol even though the effect of ethanol on the inhibition efficiency is less than that of n-butanol. The orders of the corrosion rates, the electrochemical corrosion rate constant and the electrochemical exchange current of nickel corrosion in different media are HCl(aq)>surfactant+alcohol+HCl(aq)>surfactant+HCl(aq)>surfactant+alcohol(aq)>surfactant(aq).
