Abstract
The hydrolysis of penicillin G potassium salt (Pen-K) in water and O/W microemulsions with different charges was studied by UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. Compared with water, the O/W microemulsions formed by sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)/n-C5H11OH/H2O and Triton X-100/n-C5H11OH/H2O accelerated, whereas, CTAB/n-C5H11OH/H2O microemulsion suppressed this hydrolysis. The effects of O/W microemulsions with different charges on Pen-K hydrolysis can be explained by the pH values in the systems studied and by the charge density of the polar group in Pen-K.
