Abstract
The electronic structure of the valence-band of CoSe2 has been investigated by means of synchrotron radiation photoemission spectroscopy. A main peak 1.0 eV below the Fermi level (EF) is attributed to the emission of the Co 3d states with t2g symmetry, while a shoulder of the main peak near EF originates from the Co 3d states with eg symmetry. The features of the photoemission spectrum are quite similar to those of CoS2. Electron correlation effects are stronger for CoSe2 than for CoS2.
